SHORT BIOGRAPHY

The Karamanol family moved to Wayne, NJ, August 1952, from Astoria, Long Island, NY.  In the 3rd grade, I attended the Preakness Grammar School.  In the 4rth grade, Lafayette Grammar School was completed 1/2 way through the school year, so, we moved in.  Teacher was Mrs. Alloway.  In 1957, I attended Anthony Wayne Junior High School until moving to Wayne Senior High School in 1959.  I graduated from Wayne Senior High School June 1962.

In February 1963, I signed up for two 3 year tours with the 50th Armored Battalion and Headquarters Company at the, Lodi, NJ Army National Guard Armory.  First 3 years was assigned to the Communications Maintenance section, Signal Corps.  The second 3 years, I joined the 50th Armored Division NJ Army National Guard Band located at the Elisabeth NJ Army National Guard Armory.  Also, served as the Band bus driver.  I obtained my honorable discharge on February 13, 1969.

I attended RCA Institutes of Technology, Lower Manhatten, NYC; and, graduated in the Specialty area of Electronic Systems and Devices, November 29, 1966. I worked at RCA Electronic Components and Devices Engineering, Somerville, N.J. as an Engineer's Aid. Also, worked in Computer Devices, Inc., Hawthorne, NJ before going to Montclair State College for a Bachelor of Arts Degree in the School of Industrial Education and Technology. I was invited into the Honors Fraternity: Epsilon Pi Tau in 1971; and, graduated with Honors January 1972.

I began my professional and married life with my new bride, Alice Mamounes Karamanol, January 1967 at R.C.A. Electronics Devices and Components Engineering Plant in Sommerville, N.J.  I worked as an Engineer's Aid.

Next I began working at Computer Diodes Corporation as an Electronics Bench Technician.  I left to attend Montclair State University, Upper Montclair, N.J., September 1969 as a Freshman.  I graduated from the School of Industrial Arts and Technology, Montlair State University on January 31, 1972.  I received 2 New Jersey State Teaching certifications:  Teacher of Industrial Arts and Teacher of Technical Occupations.

My first job as a teaching professional was at the Parsippany Troy Hills Public School System in Parsippany, New Jersey.  I taught Electronics and Industrial Arts subjects in both High Scools.  I served 4 years as Varsity Fencing Coach at Parsippany High School on Vail Road, Parsippany, N.J. ... where I lived for 31 years.

In 1978, my wife, Ali, quit teaching to stay home with Alisa and Jason during the formative years.  This caused me to seek a higher salary position with AT&T Bell Laboratories in Whippany, N.J.  I worked as a Senior Technician for Loop Engineering for 1 year.  I was promoted to Management in AT&T General Departments, Tariffs and Costs, Basing Ridge, N.J. During my 15 years with AT&T as a Telecommucations Regional Manager I performed several positions in Cost Accounting, Computer Systems Analyst in the Finance Department, Computer Lab Administration, Site Management in AT&T Information Management Systems and Project Management in AT&T International.

I semi-retired from AT&T, Morristown, NJ, January 1993, as a Regional Telecommunications Manager (Morristown locations), Telecommunications Site Manager (Morristown and Basking Ridge AT&T work sites) and End User Support for AT&T Management in Morristown and Basking Ridge locations.

I retired from East Orange, NJ Public School System, June 2006, after serving for 13 years and 2 months (functioning as a Teacher of Technical Education and Technical Occupations ... head instructor for the Cisco Local Academy, East Orange Campus High School).
